Sondes/Signal Transmitters
Dart Systems manufacture their own 33kHz, 8kHz and 512Hz Rodding Sondes which can be screwed onto the end of a Cobra/Duct Rod or a Drain Rod and fed into pipes.
By using a Cable Locator above ground set to receive the chosen Sonde frequency the position of the Sonde can be pinpointed. Dart Systems also supply various Sondes from C-Scope and RIDGID.
When selecting which Sonde to purchase the golden rule is to use the lowest frequency that will produce a traceable signal over the distance you need to cover. Don't forget soil conditions and pipe material will affect the sonde signal so it is always best to ascertain the soil conditions & pipe material and then select the correct sonde accordingly.
